Ask Questions

Q. Is there a minimum stay required? How about longer stays?
A. There is a five (5) day minimum stay requirement when booking your vacation at Waters Edge Villa. Longer stays are also welcome, with multi-week and even monthly rates available.
Q. Can I bring pets?
A. Pets are not allowed at Waters Edge, however animal lovers will have a great time meeting and getting to know the local "Potcakes" (street-smart, friendly Bahamian dogs) that can be found in towns and villages island-wide. Be careful, you may end up adopting one to take home! (By the way, we can help with that)

Q. Is it easy to get groceries?
A. There are a number of small markets within a short drive from Waters Edge Villa. In Governor's Harbour, you'll find most of the groceries you need, as well as wines/spirits, gifts, and other small shops to browse. "Boat Days" are Tuesdays and Thursdays, so you are most likely to find what you are looking for around mid-week. Keep in mind that all of the groceries, supplies, and other goods found on Eleuthera arrive by ship, so selections can be limited. We will send you additional information that can be really helpful in planning your trip upon booking with us. It can make the difference between "I wish I had brought...." and "I had everything I could have wanted!"

Q. What about fresh vegetables and fruit?
A. The selection in the markets can be a bit limited, but never fear! Our favorite place to get organic fruits, veggies, and fantastic baked goods, Island Farm, is only 15 minutes from the house! Go early and get there before 9 (any day except Sunday), because this place is popular, and their cinnamon rolls and french bread are second to none!
Q. Is there a maximum number of people?
A. The villa has two master suites and a pull-out couch in the living room. The maximum number of people that can fit comfortably in Waters Edge is four, although an additional 1-2 guests may be allowed at the owners' discretion should the situation arise.
Q. What is the local currency?
A. US and Bahamian dollars can be used interchangeably. There are two cash machines in Governor's Harbour, but they dispense Bahamian dollars only.
Q. What about credit cards? Are they accepted?
A. Traditionally, Eleuthera has been primarily a "cash" island. However many of the restaurants and more established businesses and restaurants are beginning to accept credit cards (typically Visa/MC/Limited Amex), but you may be charged a small fee for this convenience. It is a good idea to travel with cash to cover groceries, liquor, and to take advantage of the occasional roadside produce stands and waterside fresh fish peddlers!
Q. What about mosquitoes and no-see-ums?
A. As with anywhere in the tropics, if the wind is not blowing onshore from the ocean (which it does gently most of the time at Waters Edge), you may experience a few after dusk. Bring your favorite insect repellant just to be sure.
Q. How can I find out more about Eleuthera?
A. We like to visit for the most comprehensive overview of all things Eleuthera!
